December, 4th - 5th: Rail Industry Meetings in Lille (France)  
On December, the 4th and 5th, Rail Industry Meetings take place in Lille. It's organised by ABE with the cooperation of i-Trans. In 2 days, Rail Industry Meetings brings together specialists and suppliers of solutions and equipment aimed at rail industry. Rail Industry Meetings is not a traditional show but a genuine BtoB platform.  
November, 26th to 29th: BcnRail exhibition in Barcelona (Spain)  
BcnRail is the only meeting place for the Spanish railway industry and the best showcase for the sector, where public administrations and the private sector can share knowledge and projects.

This new edition of the show will be held alongside Smart City Expo, an event dedicated to showcasing the facilities available to cities for creating a more sustainable and efficient urban environment.

November, 25th to 27th: WCRR in Sydney (Australia)  
The World Congress on Railway Research is the world's foremost international forum for the promotion, development and exchange of the latest innovations in the global rail industry.

The WCRR 2013 will see the exchange of best practice between researchers, manufacturers and operators from across the global rail industry.
November, 15th: 2nd ERCI technical workshop in Vienna (Austria)  

The second ERCI technical workshop took place in Vienna – Austria, on November, the 15th, and was organized by RTCA. This workshop was dedicated to "logistics and urban freight" and gave the opportunity to research institutes, SMEs, The Wiener Lienen, the Austrian Ministry of Transports and the European Commission to present research results, innovative solutions and innovation financing schemes to cater for the needs of this important matter in the development of cities with smart and sustainable tools.

In margin of this technical workshop, an ERCI steering committee was held at the RTCA head office. Along with our new partner from Italy, DITECFER, we invited a representative of the EC to talk precisely about Shift²Rail, the next steps of the EC acceptation of the proposal and how to take part to this initiative and benefit from the innovation programs, especially SMEs and research institutes.

September, 24th to 27th: International Railway Fair in Gdansk (Poland)  
May, 28th: first ERCI technical workshop in Dresden (Germany)  

The first ERCI technical workshop took place in Dresden – Germany, on May, the 28th, and was organized by BTS. This workshop was dedicated to the “reduction of railway noise and vibration” and gave the opportunity to labs and SMEs to present research results, solutions and products to cater for the needs of this important matter in the railway sector. This one-day event gathered representatives of 5 countries and more than 20 companies. The UNIFE, represented by its general manager Massimo Marianeschi, was invited to present the Shift²Rail initiative and to explain the opportunity that it offers to all innovation stakeholders in railway.

In margin of this technical workshop, the ERCI steering committee was held at the BTS head office. One of the main topics that was discussed during this session was the integration of a new cluster in the initiative : DITECFER from Pistoia, Italy. Its general manager, Lorenza Francino (Ansaldo Breda), show a great interest in our initiative and express the will to join our ERCI cooperation agreement. Unanimously, we are very pleased to count this new cluster member, especially from Italy, one of the most important country in Europe when railway is concerned. We hope to work closer together very soon. More details about DITECFER to be coming soon.

In the meantime, a Memorandum of Understanding between ERCI and UNIFE was established to encourage cooperation in Shift²Rail between SMEs, research institutes and industries all over Europe. ERCI is a dynamic initiative that will allow a fast and efficient dissemination of information among our members to trigger their participation in significant innovation projects close to market.

May, 16th- 17th: International Symposium Rail Aerodynamics in Berlin (Germany)  
April, 30th to May, 2nd: Railtex 2013 in London (United Kingdom)  
The UK's definitive rail event returns to Earls Court, London for its 11th edition on 30 April to 2 May 2013.

Against a backdrop of continuing investment in rail and significant ongoing projects, Railtex provides a timely opportunity for companies serving the rail market to highlight their capabilities and showcase their products and services.

Discussion, interaction and generation are the lifeblood of doing business.Railtex exhibitions are held biennially and have successfully served this market for nearly 20 years. The show remains the one essential showcase for products and services in this exciting but highly competitive market.
April, 8th to 12th: Hanover Messe (Germany)  

March 26th to 28th: SIFER in Lille (France)  

SIFER, France's international rail-industry exhibition, will take place at the Grand Palais in Lille from March 26 to March 28 this year.

More than 450 exhibitors expected to take part: from SMEs to major manufacturers, regional clusters and international companies.

Operators and public transport authorities, representatives of French regional authorities, senior managers, buyers, specifiers and engineers will attend the show and its rich programme of associated events.

February, 19th to 21st: Railtel exhibition in Vienna (Austria)  
A strategic event for the railway community focussing on maximising ROI on rail telecommunication assets.  
January, 18yh: UNIFE meeting in Brussels (Belgium)  
Following discussion at ERRAC plenary session November 2012 with UNIFE management, a meeting has been hold in Brussels January 18th, 2013 at UNIFE office. A delegation of ERCI, representing all ERCI members could present the cooperation agreement, their objectives and planned actions. UNIFE presented the current status of the Joint Technology Initiative SHIFT²RAIL as well as the next steps and the required support. The ERCI delegates agree to firmly support the JTI and committed themselves to send support letters to executives of both the Commission and the European Parliament, focusing on our experience and ability to associate SME’s in our collaborative R&I projects. This has been done and some positive feedback has already been received. The Rail Forum event , organized together with UNIFE at European Parliament on February 18th will be another opportunity for us to confirm the support and explain the expectations of our members, specially SME’s, i.e. pragmatic, continuous and simplified process for a joint Innovation roadmap, as a key success factor for the European Railway community.
